Local author K.L. Nappier’s supernatural thriller Full Wolf Moon will be in wide release as a paperback by the end of this month by Aisling Press. Full Wolf Moon was originally released as an e-book at Double Dragon Publishing (and will remain available as an e-book there).

What fun is a book launch without a book launch party? Mark your calendars for this one:

February 23 — 4-6 p.m.

Panera Bakery and Cafe at Feathersound
2285 Ulmerton Road
Clearwater, FL 33762

In addition to the book signings, there will be entertainment and door prizes.

No werewolves, though, thank goodness. (I checked the Farmer’s Almanac lunar schedule to make sure.)

Hope to see you there! In the meantime, you can watch the Full Wolf Moon trailer on Nappier’s website.

Dead Girls Are Easy by Terri Garey

Nicki Styx was minding her own business — her eclectic, eccentric, free-spirited business — when a near-death experience puts her in touch with some of the recently deceased who have unfinished business in this life. At first Nicki tries to ignore them, but eventually gives in to the annoying, nagging spirits and tries to relay their messages for them so they can rest in peace.

But being a “dead chick magnet” isn’t as easy as one would think. Nicki is swept into a world even more eccentric and free-spirited than she’s used to, complete with voodoo rituals, murder attempts, a hot romance with her emergency room doctor, confrontations with an ex-boyfriend, shopping and chicken cacciatore. Not to mention the Shocking Secret that Nicki uncovers about her past, which I can’t tell you anything about except to say that you’ll swallow your gum in astonishment.

Garey has created a spunky, snarky supernatural/suspense series that you can’t put down. The Shocking Secret stuff could have come off as a bad soap opera, but Garey not only makes it work, she makes it hilariously fascinating. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

book buzz:remote control by cynthia polansky

February 23, 2007 at 3:56 pm | In Reviews, Fiction--Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Fiction--Chick Lit, Books, Fiction--Humor | No Comments

When you pick up a new book and discover that the first sentence of Chapter One is “I died on a Tuesday when I was thirty-one years old,” you know that you’re in for an interesting read.  Cynthia Polansky’s Remote Control is that and more.  The main character Judith is an average, normal, happily-married woman with a best friend, two dogs and a good job — until her untimely death from hilariously embarrassing circumstances.

After her death, Judith is anything but average.  Unable to fully concentrate on the afterlife lessons of her spirit guide Ashraf, she obsessively watches over her bereaved husband Saul and best friend Micaela.  Judith’s initial concern for Saul’s adjustment to widowerhood morphs into jealous anxiety after watching Saul become romantically involved with their gorgeous and greedy accountant.  Judith figures that she can fulfill her responsibilities in the afterlife and protect her husband at the same time.  She discovers, however, that meddling busybodies who show up late for work are just as annoying in the afterlife as in her past life, but with far more serious consequences.

Remote Control is one part humorous chick lit and one part clever paranormal fantasy, stirred with inspirational wisdom and served with some startling plot twists. The book you finish is not the same one you started, but you enjoy them both and learn a lot on the journey.

Visit Polansky’s website at www.cynthiapolansky.com. Remote Control will be available in November 2007. To reserve your copy, email echelonpress(at)comcast.net.
